Genital Warts Are Silent Killers – STD Testing Centers Denver

Genital warts normally appear in warm, moist environment as it provides a suitable condition for it to grow. These usually being the penis, scrotum and in or around the anus and groin for males while for the females the areas prone to infection are in or around the vagina, in or around the anus and groin.

Genital warts are known as silent killers as their symptoms are not clearly visible at the initial stage and as a result of this people may be carrying it for quite some time and only realize once it gets worse. Also, it does not cause any pain nor discomfort. But as times goes by the infected areas develop lesions which due to frictions with other parts of the skin may result in rashes and itchiness as well as burning sensation. And the areas of the growth may become even more moist and warm and therefore further encouraging the warts to grow – into something more visible.

Genital warts are bumps of various sizes on the skin of the genitals. They result from infection with some types of human papillomavirus, or HPV (a common sexually transmitted virus). Genital Warts don’t have to be present to become infected with HPV because it can be caught from touching the infected skin or through sexual fluids. This is why it’s fast becoming a world wide epidemic with 6.2 million new cases each year in the US alone. Genital warts are contagious. Skin to skin contact and of course any sexual contact should be avoided until the condition is eliminated or you may pass the virus on and risk infecting others as well.

Cauliflower like growths appear in the areas where lesions had appeared. These growths vary greatly on size from individual warts that are hardly visible to clusters of many warts that completely disfigure the area. Some are flat while some are bumpy, some are smooth and some are rough, some are of the same color of the skin while some especially at later stages become much darker and hideous.

In females, warts include vaginal bleeding and increased vaginal discharge. Pregnant women often times find the warts grow much quicker and larger as their immune system is naturally depressed during this time and causing the body more vulnerable to viruses and infection. There is possibility that warts may progress to cervical cancer.

So, if you feel something unusual particluarly in your genital organ, it’s now time for you to consult your doctor. Seek doctor’s advice.  Do not let the warps go complicated as more money is involved to cure mature warts.

Genital warts have also developed around the mouth or in the throat of someone who has performed oral sex on an infected person. Recent research shows that HPV is gone in 70% of infected individuals after one year and 91% after two years. Genital warts can be raised or flat, small or large. Sometimes they’re clustered together in a cauliflower-like shape. Genital warts can clear up on their own as your immune system fights off the virus. But this can take many months or years.
